CSQA Exam Queries

Primary tabs

Hi,

I am preparing for CSQA exam and have few queries as below:

1. What is the passing percent?

2. From Jan 2008, we can take the exam online at prometric center. I am not clear how we will need to answer subjective paper - will it be paper exam or it will also be online? Did anyone give the exam online at prometric center?

Regards,

Manish

I've heard it is paper for subjective. I wish it were online.

I sent an email to software certification customer service asking them about subjective exam, whether it will be online (keyboard typed) or paper (hand written) and the answer I got was online (keyboad typed).

I have already appeared for CSQA 0n 28-mar-2009. This time the paper was somehow tough, particularly subjective papers. Im not sure if the weightage of subjective and objective is same. I mean 200 marks for objectives and 200 for subjective and total of 400 marks.
Also, do anybody have any idea about the checking criteria for subjective questions. I attempted all the questions but still not sure abt the accuracy of answers as paper was too general. Is the marking for subjective is soft :-)
you may reply on akash18@gmail.com or akash.a.saxena@rbs.co.uk or right here.

Hi,

Iam also appearing for exam on coming june in Bangalore.I heard it as online.please can any one confirm it.should we need to get 75% in each of the section??

Preparing for CSQA:

sHOULD WE NEED TO READ THE ENTIRE C BOOK.

sangeeta singh's picture

Hi,

No the exam is not online in India yet.

And the format has changed and u need 75% over all , not in each section.

Yes U need to read the CBOK cover to cover very very well the whole exam will come only from the book .Nowhere else will the questions be from .All the objective as well as the subjective questions will be from the CBOK.

U need to do the entire CBOK throughly as the objective questions come from anywhere and they expect u to have read the book very very well.

When I took it in 1999, it was 70% for each of the 4 sections.  It shouldn't have changed.  I would think all parts would now be online.  Sounds like an improvement I wish was there when I had to make a trip to take the test.

Good luck with the exam!

Hi Sudhakar,

I'm working as a QA Engineer in a MNC firm (non-CMM comp) and i'm interested in CSQA.

Could you please email me the study material (CBOK) at 2subodh@gmail.com?

As per the site, it needs 10 weeks to prepare for this exam, is it sufficient for a beginner like me? I do not posses programming skills or complete QA process and its principles.

Please guide...thanks

Hello Sudhakar,

I am a new member of this blog. Currently I am completing six sigma black belt certification. I have worked as a business system analyst for couple of years. I am interested in completing CSQA since it deals more with processes.

Do you think six sigma is used in software companies? I am aware that the most common quality standard being used is CMMI and ISO.

Kindly email me the study material (CBOK) for CSQA. My email id is kanchankul@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance,

Hi everyone,

Recently I've joined the group. Can anyone tell me 2008

CSQA examination pattern and the dates.

Thanks

Suneetha

gadigeppa22's picture

Hi Suneetha,

CSQA examination pattern :

The exam consists of four papers,

Two objective (45 minutes each),

Two subjective (75 minutes each).

Total Duration is four hours.

Total of 400 marks, 100 each.

Passing is 75%.

Please visit the site http://www.softwarecertifications.org/ since it
answers most questions about the CSQA exam date and examination procedures.

Gadigeppa.

Sudhakar Packiamuthu's picture

Hi Akash...
Weightage for both Subjective & Objective questions are same...200 for Objective & 200 marks for Subjective...
To be very honest with you...even when i gave CSQA...To my knowledge i found that even after reading CBOK 3 times...I could not recollect much points while attempting the paper...So at the end i had to put my own words plus few words from CBOK which i cud recollect...
So dnt worry...U have attempted all the questions right ?...So shud be able to clear CSQA easily...If u score good in the objective section as well...U can again easily sail thru ur exam...
Even when i gave both CSQA & CSTE ...After the exam i always felt that i may fail...Cause i was not happy with the way i had attempted subjective questions...But then i always had a feeling that since i have attempted all the subjective questions...There's a chance to pass the exam...And thats what happened...I easily cleared the exam...

So no need to worry...U would easily sail ur CSQA exam as i did...

Do let me know once ur results are out...

Hope i have answered ur question...

Do let me know if u have any other questions...

Hi .. I have just registered for CSQA and got access to CBOK in their website. Is this material good enough for preparation. I am just kinda confused as people request for CBOK material.

Your reply would be valuable.

Thanks

RSuriyanarayanan's picture

Hi Gayathri - Thx for ur interest iN CSQA. C-BoK is the most important material/guide for CSQA Exam. However, you also need to read books on Quality (like Deming's, Crosby's,Roger Pressman's books) to augment your knowledge and also to score high marks.

Please write to me at r.suri@live.com for more details.

I am based in Chennai and I've been guiding aspirants for CSQA/CSTE/PMP/ISTQB from my residence for many eyars now.

Best wishes and Regards,

Suri

Sudhakar Packiamuthu's picture

Hi Gayatri,

CBOK is the only source which would show the path for success. There's no need to refer to any other reference books.Almost 99% of the question would come from CBOK.U need to be thorough with CBOK.This would easily help u to clear ur exam.

Also i wud like to metion if u r thorugh with each domain...Objective questions wud be easy for you...Cause the Objective questions come directly from CBOK...Make sure u have reach CBOK atleast 3 times bfore u appear for the exam...

U did say that u r confused which material to refer...Please make sure that u dnt refer to any short material notes...Cause they are not much helpful...Its always CBOK which wud help u in the long run...

All The Best For Your Exam

Do let me know if u have any other questions.

Hi Manish,

Would jst like to answer ur question...
1) 75%(Aggregate of all the four papers. So even if u score less in one of the four papers and u score good in the other papers, the aggregate would be considered)
2) Exams in India are still not online.India,Brazil,China & Srilanka do not have provision for taking up exams online yet.U can visit the site www.softwarecertifications.org
to get more information on the same.

Do let me know if u have any other questions.
