What is meant by IS function and IT function

In CSQ CBOK, they have mentioned terms such as IS functions and IT functions. What is exactly meant by them. Can someone explaing by giving example?
IS = Information Systems or Information Services, IT=Information Technology
Many organizations refer to IS as department responsible for computers, networking and data management.
While other organizations refer to the department as IT (Information Technology) and MIS (Management Information Services).
